Introduction

In the heart of Central Florida, the Orlando Church Plant Network (OCPN) is on a mission to achieve gospel saturation, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to hear, see, and respond to the gospel. In a recent episode of the Plant Orlando podcast, hosts Gabriel Forsyth and Bo Hutchens dive deep into the transformative journey of church planting, emphasizing the importance of training and sending leaders to create thriving, healthy churches.

The Vision of Gospel Saturation

The Orlando Church Plant Network envisions a vibrant community where every person experiences the life-changing message of the gospel. Gabriel Forsyth articulates that through continual church planting, the network aims to foster an environment where the gospel is not only preached but lived out in every corner of Orlando.

The Church Planting Pipeline

OCPN has developed a structured pipeline for church planting, consisting of two main cohorts: the Foundational Cohort and the Finishing Cohort. The Foundational Cohort helps emerging leaders discern their calling to church planting, while the Finishing Cohort equips established leaders like Bo Hutchens with practical skills and relationships to successfully launch new churches.

Meet Bo Hutchens

Bo Hutchens, a participant in the Finishing Cohort, shares his unique journey to faith and ministry. Raised in a Christian home, Bo initially struggled with his faith during his college years at Florida State. It was through a relationship with his now-wife, Trudy, that he began to understand what it truly meant to live out a faith in Christ. His experiences serving in various church ministries ignited a passion for leading others to Christ, eventually leading him to seminary and pastoral ministry.

The Call to Montverde

After successfully revitalizing a church in South Georgia, Bo felt a stirring in his heart towards a new mission. A chance call from a friend introduced him to the opportunity to replant a struggling church in Montverde, Florida. Despite initial hesitations, Bo and his family felt called to answer this missional need, fully supported by their previous church community.

Impact of the OCPN Finishing Cohort

Bo reflects on the profound impact of the OCPN Finishing Cohort on his journey. The camaraderie formed with fellow cohort members has been both encouraging and enriching. The structured weekly meetings provide a space for accountability, reflection, and growth, helping Bo prepare for the challenges of church planting.

Understanding Montverde

Montverde, known for its historic roots and proximity to Lake Apopka, is a small town on the verge of significant growth. Bo shares the rich history of Montverde Baptist Church, established in 1959, and the community’s desire to revitalize the church to meet the needs of the growing population. The collaboration with larger, healthy Baptist churches provides a solid foundation for this new church plant.

Conclusion:

As the Orlando Church Plant Network continues to cultivate leaders like Bo Hutchens, the vision of gospel saturation in Central Florida becomes more tangible. Through dedicated training and community support, OCPN is poised to make a lasting impact on the region, ensuring that every person has the opportunity to experience the transformative power of the gospel. Key takeaways include the importance of community in ministry, the value of structured training, and the need for churches to adapt to meet the growing demands of their communities.
